Construction is underway!
What’s the current status of our Renewal Project at Holy Blossom?
Perhaps the simplest way to put it is this: our dream of a renewed campus at 1950 Bathurst Street has moved from beautiful concept to exciting construction!
If you’ve been following the detailed bi-weekly updates in our Life at Holy Blossom e-blasts, or have seen the construction photos and videos online at www.holyblossom.org/renewal (or on our HBT Facebook page) you know we’ve been very busy these last several months, preparing our School Wing to temporarily house our Rabbinic and administrative offices and all of our great Temple programming throughout Phase 1 construction. (Of course, as everyone knows, our Main Sanctuary will also remain open during construction for services on Shabbat and Festivals.)
We’re also in the midst of installing the brand new elevator for our renewed campus and building new washrooms and stairwells on the lower level near the Philip Smith Congregational Hall.
All of this rather arduous preparatory work – if you’ve seen the photos or video of the excavation of the elevator pit, you’ll know just how arduous it is! – will enable us to start the balance of Phase 1 construction in earnest after the High Holy Days. As a reminder, Phase 1 includes our transformational new central Atrium, our beautiful new Family Chapel (in the current location of the Eisendrath Auditorium), our newly situated library, our entirely renovated administrative offices, as well as brand new state-of-the art HVAC and electrical systems.
As we announced in early April, we will be staying in our home at 1950 Bathurst Street for every service throughout the whole of the 2015 High Holy Days, just as we are remaining on campus throughout Phase 1 construction. While you will see lots of progress on-site when you arrive for the holidays, we will take a break from our construction activities over this period, thereby allowing us to use all of our current spaces one last time before we start the bulk of Phase 1 construction.
And since pictures do a much better job of inspiring than any words could ever do, we’re including the Renewal Project’s most current architectural renderings and floor plans in this package. We hope they will both inspire you and whet your appetite for the exciting days ahead at Holy Blossom.
We look forward to seeing you during the High Holy Days and, as always, we appreciate your enthusiastic support throughout our Renewal construction process. If you have any questions regarding any aspect of our Renewal Project, you can check our FAQ’s page under the Renewal tab at www.holyblossom.org.
