Congratulations to Rabbi Jordan Helfman
It is with great joy that we announce that the Temple Board voted unanimously in favour of the Pulpit Committee’s recommendation to invite Rabbi Jordan Helfman to become an Associate Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple. Rabbi Helfman has been with our congregation for nearly five years now. In that time, he has contributed to the growing strength of our congregation, particularly in the areas of youth education, young families, and young adults. He has also worked to build important partnerships between Holy Blossom and other Jewish communal organizations.
In addition to his congregational leadership, Rabbi Helfman serves on the board of the World Union for Progressive Judaism and devotes time to collaborative study of unpublished works of early Reform Rabbis. We delight in Rabbi Helfman’s professional growth since he came to us from Hebrew Union College five years ago as we delight in watching his family grow, too. We look forward to celebrating Rabbi Helfman’s installation as an Associate Rabbi on Friday, October 19, 2018 when Rabbi Dr Deborah Kahn-Harris, Principal of The Leo Baeck College comes from London as our Scholar-in-Residence.
Please save the date and join us in wishing Rabbi Helfman and his wife Jemma a heartfelt Mazel Tov in reaching this milestone.

Continuing to Shine Together from Rabbi Helfman
When, in the Book of Proverbs it states נֵר יְהוָה, נִשְׁמַת אָדָם “The lamp of the Eternal is the human spirit” (20:27), it refers to concepts of kindness and integrity. I believe it is the goal of every rabbi to work in kindness and integrity, trying to bring more light into our world. I am honoured to do this work here at Holy Blossom Temple, a community committed to shining the light from its tower facing Bathurst Street onto the surrounding Jewish community and beyond. I am honoured that the congregation has decided to bestow the title of ‘Associate Rabbi’ upon me. I look forward to new and exciting projects in cooperation with the lay leaders and professionals. The task before me is to continue to explore the richness and depth of our community. As we grow together, I know that we will bring more light to the human spirit, and radiate kindness and generosity into our city.
Dear Rabbi Helfman,

We are delighted to hear the good news.
Best wishes to you, our new associate Rabbi and to all the Helfman Family.
