Chai Mitzvah: Grow Your Judaism
What Do You Want Your Jewish Life to Look Like?
Being Jewish means you learn and do, all your life. Our tradition teaches us the world stands on Torah, Avodah and G’milut Chasadim: learning, spirituality and social involvement. That is, head, heart, and hand.
We point our children’s learning toward that moment when they become full members of our community, when they become Bar or Bat Mitzvah. What about after that? How do you develop, re-define your own adult Jewish lives? How do you re-engage as adults?
You become a Chai Mitzvah.
Our sisterhood has decided to launch an innovative initiative for adults called Chai Mitzvah.
What Is Chai Mitzvah?
Chai Mitzvah is a unique adult engagement program that encourages an integrated, experiential approach to Jewish life through five simple components. Each participant:
- Attends monthly group learning with a set curriculum provided by Chai Mitzvah.
- Chooses an independent study topic for the year.
- Chooses a ritual/spiritual practice to take on for the year.
- Commits to a social action activity for the year.
- Celebrates the journey!
Chai Mitzvah will plant a tree in Israel through JNF for each participant who completes the program.
