Camp George, Summer 2014 – Jewish life is thriving!
Our Holy Blossom kids and teens are growing at Camp George.
New skills, new friendships, new leadership, and new experiences to deepen Jewish identity. On the waterfront and in the cabins, on the ropes course and athletic field, on the biking trails and on the bima – Jewish life is thriving!

Just back from a great week literally getting my feet wet at URJ Camp George, our reform Jewish summer camp. Instead of going for a group shot, I wandered around the pre-shabbat-walk huddle and participated with other campers in marveling at how well everyone cleans up for Shabbat. I know I only found about half of our campers and staff during my wander. Many more were eating doughnuts and chatting about the week.
The first week of camp Rabbi Splansky was with our kids, joining me for my week were members and educators Eric Petersiel of the Leo Baeck Day School and our teacher Elana Paice Lidsky, and this week our Director of Youth Engagement Lisa Isen Baumal is spending time and teaching our campers.

By Mike Morgulis.
Last year he was a 2-week camper, this year he is a full first session Nitzotzot camper. Two of his N1 cabin mates are HBT friends, Matthew and Eli, and he enjoys seeing his other HBT friends and staff on a regular basis as well. It’s reassuring to have staff and older campers who know Lior and take a minute to check up on him and see how he’s doing; it helps us sleep a bit better at night with the many kilometres between Lior and us.
He’s written home 3 times, each of the letters being upbeat and funny, and the Bunk1 photos and camp tweets are great as well. I know he’ll be happy to be coming home, but I also know that he’ll be looking forward to Camp George again. We could not have sent him to camp without the support of HBT and the TopBunk programs, our sincerest thanks for helping us give Lior a positive Jewish camp experience.
