Book Clubbers: Sunday Book Club
Our Temple librarian, Sharon Singer, has rallied a group of devoted readers into book clubbers who meet in the pleasant ambience of the Temple library once a month, on a Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sometimes, the books are chosen by a group decision taken from suggested titles, and at other times, by Sharon. These selections have covered a wide range of topics with emphasis on Jewish themes, Jewish authors or Israel.
Discussion normally starts off by Sharon giving us the benefit of her research of the author or the book, and then, the floor is open to discussion by the participants. There are warm and lively exchanges pertinent to the selection of the day.
Sharon keeps a list of the group and faithfully sends out emails to all, as a reminder of the upcoming meeting. An added benefit has been Sharon providing us with yummy home baked treats by her husband, Pierre, “The Muffin Man”. Some of the fittest in the group have also joined Sharon, herself an avid walker, on summer hikes in the ravine and ended at a local shop for coffee.
I am interested but would like to know in advance what books you are reading.
I would probably attend only if I am interested in reading the book.
Also what day in the month are you meeting? (e.g. third Sun. in month or…..)
I would like to be on your contact list for the book club. I think I was in the past but did not attend for a while. Thanks for information on future meetings.
