Announcement on Succession Planning for the Senior Cantor
As we continue on our journey of change and transition, we’re starting to plan for the future of sacred music at Holy Blossom Temple. In May of last year, our beloved Cantor Maissner announced that after forty years of leading our congregation through song and prayer, he will step down from his daily activities and become Cantor Emeritus as of July 1, 2020.
A Senior Cantor Search Committee has been formed with the goal of identifying a worthy successor to serve as Senior Cantor at Holy Blossom Temple. The Committee Chairs and Vice Chair are Jeff Denaburg, Rachel Malach and Joanne Roher. You can read more about them by clicking here.
We are thrilled that joining us on the committee are Maddie Axelrod, Dr. Barry Borden, Jasche Jabes (from the Pulpit Committee), Lewis Molot, Elliot Salmons, Brenda Saunders, Rob Sniderman and Rabbi Yael Splansky (ex officio).
Our committee’s first order of business is to imagine the future of music and chazanut at Holy Blossom, and how it aligns with the Temple’s long-term vision. We’d like to hear from you, our Temple community, so we can best represent our diverse congregation in this important search. Over the coming months, we’ll create opportunities for Temple members to share their views and aspirations for this future vision.
We are holding two upcoming open forums at Holy Blossom. We hope you will join us and take the opportunity to share your ideas with the Search Committee:
- Sunday, November 18, after the Annual General Meeting – to start at approx. 12:00 noon
- Thursday, December 6, from 7:30 to 9 pm
We welcome the input of all Temple members in this visioning – the first phase of finding an Incoming Senior Cantor. We look forward to working closely with the Celebration Committee and Transition Committee during this important time in the life cycle of music at Holy Blossom.
L’Shalom,
Jeff Denaburg Rachel Malach Joanne Roher
