Anne Dublin Launches Eighth Book
By Anne Dublin.
“Stealing Time is an exciting adventure novel…” Canadian Materials
“… fast-paced and fact-filled.” AJL Reviews
“… an adventurous reminder that change is not always a bad thing.” Quill and Quire
My eighth book, Stealing Time, originated from a question a friend asked me a number of years ago: “Do you know what a leap second is?”
That first question led to many more. I became fascinated with the whole idea of time — how we measure it, how we use it, and how it expands and contracts depending on what we’re doing. I decided to write a novel for young people about time.
After reading everything I could about timekeeping, I travelled to American clock museums, Canadian science museums, and the National Research Council in Ottawa to research my book.
Then I started to ask my own questions: What if a boy stole a pocket watch that would transport him back to times and places significant in the history of timekeeping? What if he were stuck in a time / place with a stepbrother he didn’t like? What if these boys had to work together to solve their problems?
Stealing Time is not only a historical novel but also the story of a boy who’s confused about all the changes in his life and who is desperately seeking stability.
The book launch of Stealing Time will be on Sunday, June 8, 1:30 p.m. at the Temple. I hope to see you there!
