The Declaration of a Palestinian State: What To Read Now?
Israel and Palestine?
While the (presumed) upcoming declaration of a State of Palestine may prove determinative in the history of the Middle East, more dramatic developments in the region have captured the lion’s share of attention until now.
Egypt, Libya, and Syria – the ongoing struggles here and elsewhere draw the attention of the eyes of the world. But events are moving quickly, and it appears that Mahmoud Abbas will soon declare a State of Palestine –followed no doubt by major sessions at the UN, and likely, further isolation of Israel on the world stage.
What will Israel then do? What should it do? What do we think about and what do we know of the unfolding of the next big development in the ongoing Middle East 2011 narrative of change and disruption?
